Evaluation and Feedback

Peer Tutors are required to submit a report at the end of the semester. Here they protocol their work, describe their teaching experience, and evaluate the peer tutoring program.

Peer Mentors submit a report at the end of the semester. The report includes protocols of the Mentor-Mentee meetings, a description of the type and extent of their mentoring and information about mini workshops on study-skills and time management they organized. In addition, the Peer Mentors describe their mentoring experience and evaluate the peer mentoring program.

Peer Mentors do not receive pay/a work contract.

Tutors: All Tutoring Classes focussing on review of lecture content and exam preparation are evaluated. The evaluations are usually performed after the first half of the classes. This gives the Peer Tutors the opportunity to adjust their teaching. The evaluations focus on structure, quality of teaching and use of interactive methods.

Lab Tutors: Lab Tutors are evaluated in the course of the evaluation of the respective practical course.

Peer-Mentors: Peer Mentors are evaluated by their mentees at mid-term. 

Since 2013 the evaluations are performed using the EvaSys System and results are published in an online course in WueCampus 2.

Peer Tutor and Peer Mentor Training: All Peer Tutor and Peer Mentor training courses for students of biology (BSc), biology (minor), biomedicine and students aspiring to become biology teachers are evaluated on a regular basis.
