New Professor at CCTB
12/06/2018Since October 2018, Sabine Fischer heads the research group for Supramolecular and Cellular Simulations at the Center for Computational and Theoretical Biology (CCTB). Now she will introduce herself with a lecture titled “Auf gute Nachbarschaft!/To being good neighbours! Mathematical biology of intercellular interactions in developing tissues”.
Sabine Fischer's goal is to establish fundamental laws in developmental and cell biology. Her focus is on the interaction of a cell with its environment. She investigates how cells in tissues interact with their neighbours and how the properties of a cell’s neighbourhood influence the individual cell. After graduating in Mathematics at the University of Würzburg, Sabine Fischer received her PhD in Mathematical Biology from the University of Nottingham (UK) in December 2009. She has worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Universities of Cambridge (UK) and Frankfurt in the search for close cooperation with experimenters and for quantitative data useful for her work. Since October 2018 she is Professor of Supramolecular and Cellular Simulations at the Center for Computational and Theoretical Biology (CCTB). Here she wants to create data-based mathematical models of complex tissues and teach topics of quantitative data analysis and cellular simulations.
Her introductory lecture will take place on 11.12.2018 at 11 am in the seminar room of the CCTB (2nd floor, building 32, Hubland Nord).
